DBT Group
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is a type of psychotherapy rooted in CBT, with a specific focus on people who experience intense emotions or emotional reactions.
"Dialectical" means combining opposite ideas, which DBT does by teaching people to accept reality and challenging them simultaneously to make changes.
DBT is especially effective for people experiencing difficulty managing and regulating emotions. Their difficulties may have resulted in troubled relationships or a pattern of harmful behaviours.
Just as in CBT, DBT teaches a person to challenge and change unhelpful ways of thinking and behaving and focus on building skills and relationships that help a person reach the highest possible quality of life.
